What is Team Spike The Wonder Dog?

We are a group of enthusiastic bicyclists riding together recreationally in the San Francisco Bay Area. We meet about twice a week for rides after work, and then some more on the weekends. The riding experience became more organized when some team members participated in the Lance Armstrong Foundation's Livestrong Challenge in Austin in 2006, forming Team Spike The Wonder Dog for that event. Team Spike also participated in that same ride the following year, and will be out there in force for the 2010 Livestrong Challenges in Seattle, San Jose, Philly and Austin.

Wait a second, I keep reading about bicycling - what does the dog have to do with it?

Spike, our founder's dog and group's namesake, passed away from cancer. Raising funds to support the fight against this disease is the primary mission of the Livestrong Challenge, so that connection was easily made. Team Spike's motto is "In Support Of All Beings Affected By Cancer", and it presents us with a unique opportunity to combine our passion for bicycling with a noble cause.
